Clean white cobblestones. There’s few places in the city where you can see them. Alabaster Lane is named for them. Alabaster Lane is a short, dead end lane in the Noble District. It runs right up to the east side’s outer wall. The six buildings, three on a side, that line this lane are painted a shade of white, and the merchants who exist here also wear white. They’re known as the Quall family and this is the only place in the city where they operate. This is one of the five most dangerous streets in Avalon.

The Oddities & Dangers of Alabaster Lane

  • The Quall only speak the ancient dialect of Old Empire and will only deal with those who can converse in the archaic tongue. If you can’t talk the talk, the Quall guards will remove you from the lane. If you resist too much you’ll be leaving parts of yourself behind.
  • There’s also no Griffins around these parts, only the Quall’s guards. They accept no bribes, They tolerate zero violence. Those who make threats, even of the joking variety find themselves broken at best and many disappear, never to be seen again.
  • Shopping here is also perilous. Unless you enter a shop with intention to purchase a certain item, you will find yourself obligated to purchase something, usually spending all you have and more due to some strange compulsion.
  • The reason anyone would come here is because the Quall have anything and everything you might want, assuming you can pay for it. All you need to do is have a plan and beware of impulsive desires.
  • The Quall are an odd lot, they seem to understand the difference between an impulse purchase and an Intentional one, even if nothing is said. Intentional purchases are always done in trade and not in coin as the Quall seem more interested in barter than coin. This could be items or favors and it’s always slightly in the Qualls favor but never too much.
  • One of the most unsettling things about Alabaster Lane is the lack of street lamps. Once night falls, only the faint light from inside the shops leaks out on to the road.
  • The last and truest fact about this place is every time you exit a shop it is always night, regardless of when you entered. Some folks have reported loosing multiple days on Alabaster Lane.
